Due to covid-19 presential teaching at universi...due to covid-19 presential teaching at universities was interrupted and many are now offering remote education. educators face several obstacles adapting their subjects to this new teaching paradigm, mainly in practical subjects, as they usually depend on specific equipment or laboratories. in this sense for audiology education new ways for teaching practical audiology are required. considering the circumstances and with the intention of providing students with satisfactory knowledge on pure tone audiometry, a specific teaching module should be developed for the already existing, windows os based free persona software (version 1.6.0 or more, developed at lva-ufsc). the module should simulate an audiometer and allow the student to simulate the research of auditory thresholds by air and bone conduction, with and without masking. every audiological exam performed is to be saved to the case file of the examined patient. case files must be available at any time and data can be used by students and teachers for discussion. the module must also allow the educator to create fictitious clinical cases and to send them to his pupils asking them to replicate the cases. by means of a psychoacoustic calibration the students own auditory threshold is to be transformed into the baseline hearing threshold, allowing for representative results during remote teaching. technical specifications of iso 389 are to be applied. the module will be analyzed and must be approved twofold: 1) experienced audiology educators will evaluate its interface, functioning and appropriateness for teaching tonal audiometry, and 2) sound reproduction characteristics will be evaluated using different computers and headphones on an artificial ear and both a kemar and a hms iii manikin.
